Vice-Chancellor's Award for Teaching & Supervision Excellence

The UNSW Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching and Supervision Excellence recognise and encourage sustained excellence in teaching and postgraduate research supervision.

The awards will be allocated each year for:

  • teaching excellence (up to six awards)
  • excellence in postgraduate research supervision (up to two awards)
  • excellence in sessional teaching (general) (up to one award)
  • excellence in sessional teaching (tutors and laboratory demonstrators) (up to two awards)
In order to increase the opportunities for recognising outstanding teaching at UNSW the Learning and Teaching Unit have made significant changes to the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching Excellence to align them with the Carrick Awards for Australian University Teaching (CAAUT). In 2006 the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) were expanded to form the CAAUT in order to promote the status of learning and teaching in higher education and to recognise the diverse contributions of a wide range of staff.
