Staff who are absent from duty without proper approval or without informing their supervisor may face disciplinary action or may be deemed to have abandoned their employment. Where such a circumstance arises, the supervisor should immediately contact the Industrial Relations Advisory Unit for advice. Where an absence extends to more than three consecutive working days, the supervisor should inform the relevant Personnel Officer so as to ensure that no salary overpayment occurs.
