1. Australian-based applicants

General staff applicants will normally be required to meet any travel and accommodation costs associated with an interview for a position at UNSW, unless the University, agrees in advance to meet interview expenses.

For academic appointments, the University will normally meet any travel and accommodation costs associated with the interview. Travel expenses will be based on either kilometrage rates or an economy airfare, whichever is the least. Accommodation will be paid at University rates, where overnight accommodation is considered reasonable.

2. Overseas-based applicants

In the case of an applicant residing overseas, the selection committee can consider the merits of the applicant through one of the following options:

(i) in absentia, relying on the application, referees' reports, and any other information gathered; or
(ii) interviewing the applicant by telephone or video conference at the Budget Unit's expense; and/or
(iii) arranging for the applicant to travel to the University for the interview at the Budget Unit's expense. This option should particularly be used for academic or senior general staff appointments.
