Sick Leave - Recognition of Prior Service

UNSW does not permit the transfer of sick leave from other employers including other universities.

However, in the case of general staff who are re-appointed at UNSW after a break in service of not more than 5 years, sick leave balances calculated in accordance with sub-clause 33.0(b)(i) of the UNSW (General Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2006, will be reinstated having regard to previous completed years of service, ie.

(i) less than 1 year of service - 10 days sick leave entitlement;
(ii) more than 1 year of service and less than 2 years - 15 days sick leave entitlement;
(iii) more than 2 years of service - 30 days of sick leave entitlement.

UNSW does not pay out any accrued sick leave entitlement on cessation of employment with the University.
