Safe Work Australia Week at UNSW
Monday 22nd to Friday 26th of October 2007
UNSW will participate in Safe Work Australia Week for the first time in 2007.
A range of activities have been developed to address key health, safety and welfare issues.
- DE-CLUTTER your workplace. Unwanted chemicals? Faulty equipment? Storeroom full to bursting? Spring Clean now to reduce hazards and contribute to a safer work environment.
-
DE-FUSE a potential crisis. Attend a Students At Risk Workshop to learn how to respond in an appropriate and caring way with an individual who is in crisis or "at risk". Your early intervention for those at risk could prevent their self-harm or injury to others.
- DE-STRESS both physically and mentally. Sign up for Relaxation & Meditation. Take a Walk. Have fun and be a winner with Stretch to Win.
- DE-LIGHT in life. Take advantage of Health & Wellbeing Opportunities for a healthier, more productive work and home life.
- For planning purposes, Registration is required for some activities.
- Plan your own local safety activity using the Resources available.
- Nominate a colleague or team for a Recognition Award for Excellence in Occupational Health
and Safety. Nominations close on Fri 26 October 2007.
Program Details - October 2007
All activities are restricted to UNSW staff and students (unless otherwise indicated).
Spring Clean
Workplace hazards - such as poor housekeeping, hazardous chemicals, faulty equipment or unsafe procedures - contribute to injury and ill-health. Safe Work Australia Week is an ideal time to focus on identifying hazards so that they can be eliminated or controlled in order to reduce the risk to your health and safety.
Send your best before and after photos, or short description, for a chance to win one of three gift baskets valued at $50 each.
