Internal Training Providers

Human Resources

Human Resources assists UNSW to achieve its goals by providing sound human resource management guidance and expertise, through effective policy development, constructive advice and high quality administrative services within the constraints of relevant legislation, awards, certified agreements and other UNSW policies.
Human Resources offer workshops that cover:
  • Dealing with difficult situations
  • Managing grievances
  • Recruitment and Selection
 


OHS & WC

The role of the OSH & WC is to identify occupational health and safety training needs, develop and present training programs and coordinate training programs involving internal or external consultants. They also look after the development and maintenance of emergency management competency standards and curriculum, development and delivery of education and training on emergency and emergency management research. The Risk Management Unit coordinates workshops that cover:
  • Occupational health and safety awareness for staff, supervisors and academics
  • Preventing overuse injury
  • Safe lifting techniques
  • Hazardous substances
  • Due diligence
  • OHS audit preparation
  • Other specific programs designed to increase safety awareness amongst staff working in specialist areas
 


Emergency Management

The Emergency Management Unit's purpose is to deliver to the UNSW Community with preventative measures to enable efficient and effective response to any incident/emergency and enable a quick recovery to a normal state of balance, as well as provide advice & resources to minimise potential emerging risks. The Emergency Management Unit provide a range of training in:
  • First aid
  • Emergency preparedness
 


Accounting Services

Accounting Services, formerly known as Financial Services, is the accounting department for UNSW. Accounting Services provide training in the following areas:
  • Intensive general ledger
  • Purchasing for beginners
  • Intensive accounts receivable
  • E-procurement
 


EDTeC

EdTec is aA service centre operating within the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education).  EDTeC works with members of the University community to improve the educational experiences of our students. They do this primarily by helping academic staff to develop their expertise and practices in learning and teaching with an emphasis on flexible learning and appropriate use of educational technologies.
 
Their services are developed in response to the needs of UNSW and include:
  • Educational design and development
  • Online learning and teaching with Web CT
  • Learning resource management
  • Media design and production
 
Support ranges from workshops and seminars to online resources and self help web sites. They work collaboratively with UNSW staff on projects to improve the quality of learning and teaching at UNSW.
 
 


Library

The University Library provides services and resources to support the learning, teaching and research needs of the University community. The Library provides a range of training in:
  • Endnote
  • Database searching
 


Learning and Teaching Unit

The Learning and Teaching Unit responds directly to the UNSW community by developing activities based on learning and teaching issues identified by staff. The Learning and Teaching Unit coordinates a number of workshops and events, including:
  • Foundations of University Learning and Teaching (FULT) Program
  • UNSW Network in Learning and Teaching (UNLIT) workshops
  • UNSW Learning and Teaching Awards workshops and forum
  • Professional practice in Adult Learning and Teaching (PPALT)
  • Promotions workshops
  • Customised workshops
 


Education and Development Unit, Faculty of Business

The Education and Development Unit, Faculty of Business (EDU) was established in 1997 to provide teaching and learning support to the staff and students in the Faculty of Commerce and Economics. The EDU works directly with academic staff and students in the context of their discipline to support their learning and teaching practice.
 


Workplace English Program

The Institute of Languages and Workplace English Programis funded by UNSW to provide English language and communication skills for the workplace. UNSW free English classes are available to help staff develop language and communication skills for the workplace. Services available include both group classes and individual consultations. Group classes are 2 hour classes which cover areas such as writing skills, telephone skills, pronunciation and seminar presentations. Individual Learning Programs  can be set up for study at home or in the Workplace English Library Support Unit. The classes and consultations take place at the Institute of Languages, Kensington Campus, 223 Anzac PDE.
 
 
 


Research Office

The Office of Research Services are planning a wide range of events in 2006 to support new and continuing researchers at UNSW. This will include the popular Research Mentor Program and Orientation sessions specifically for new research staff.

Australian Vice Chancellor’s Committee (AVCC)

The Australian Vice Chancellor's Committee advances higher education through voluntary, cooperative and coordinated action. The Committee is non-partisan and exists exclusively for educational purposes. Its continuing aim is to serve the best interests of the universities, and through them, the nation. The AVCC represents 38 Australian universities. The Australian Vice Chancellor’s Committee provide a range of training in leadership and management.
 


Learn4Life

Learn4Life  is the education arm of NewSouth Global, a UNSW Company and a Registered Training Organisation. Learn4Life delivers practical, contemporary and industry relevant short non degree courses suitable for beginners to advanced learners. Learn4Life provides a range of training in:
  • IT skills
  • Business skills
  • Special interest courses


Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM)

The Australian Graduate School of Managementis Australia's pre-eminent business school. AGSM offers a full-time MBA, a national part-time MBA in each Australian capital city, executive programs and customised corporate education.
 


National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA)

NIDA is Australia's national training centre for the arts entertainment industry.
NIDA provides excellence in training for entertainment professionals including; full-time courses, short courses and corporate performance coaching.
 


Association for Tertiary Executive Management

ATEM is the professional association for University Administrators. ATEM provides networking opportunities as well as development opportunities for university staff including:
