How to Apply

NOTE - Job applications to UNSW are processed in one of two ways depending upon the nature of the position. When preparing and submitting your application please note the following:

SENIOR POSITIONS include:
- Academic: Associate Professor and Professor
- General: Level 10 and above.

Step 1 Read the documentation, especially the position description.
Step 2
Prepare your APPLICATION LETTER quoting reference number of the position.  You must address each selection criteria as detailed in the position description.  This is your opportunity to convincingly demonstrate to the Selection Committee that you meet the selection criteria.  Make a separate heading for each selection criterion and systematically address each criterion by demonstrating how aspects of your skills, qualifications, experience and abilities relate to each of the individual criteria listed.  Give examples and emphasise your major achievements.
Step 3
Prepare your RESUME.  Your Resume should include:
  • Personal details (including home and other contact telephone numbers);
  • Education and training;
  • Employment history (names or organisations, periods of employment, job titles, major duties and responsibilities and main achievements);
  • Skills and/or experience gained
  • Copies of academic transcripts and qualifications (where requested, originals should not  be sent).
  • Details of 2 referees (3 referees for senior positions) - ideally, your referees will be able to comment on your past employment and recent work performance in relation to the selection criteria.  it is preferable that your most recent, direct supervisor is nominated as one of your referees.
Step 4
SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION.  This may be done in one of two ways::

Important notes for online applications:
 
1.  Complete all mandatory fields.  These are marked with a RED "*".
 
2.  If the position is a senior position please tick the "Yes" box next to the question "Is this position a Senior Position?" located in Part 1.  This will ensure you application is sent to the Senior Appointments Unit.
 
3.  Attach your application letter and your resume.
 
4.  Once you have completed all mandatory fields and attached your application letter and resume, click the "Submit Application Form" button.
 
5.  An email response will be sent to all online applicants confirming that you application has been received.

2.  Submit the completed Application Form, Application Letter and your Resume as follows:

ALL OTHER POSITIONS applications may be sent :

3. All email applications will receive an email response confirming receipt within 24 hours.
 
All unsuccessful applications will receive notification except positions at Levels 1 - 7.
 
NOTE:
  • You need to submit a separate application for each job you apply for at UNSW.
  • If possible your application should be typed, where this is not possible, please make sure your writing is clear and easy to read;
  • The closing date for applications is provided in each advertisement.  It is your responsibility to ensure the application is received by Human Resources by the closing date.
