Post Doctoral Fellow

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellow to assist and collaborate with Professor Ballard to determine the relative importance of mitochondrial DNA types, nuclear genes,and mitonuclear interactions on (a) mitochondrial bioenergetics and (b) life history traits using Drosophila as a model. The goal of Professor Ballard's research is to link the genotype with the phenotype using comparative genomics, population genetics, biochemical analyses, and life-history trait studies.
 
Candidates should possess a PhD or equivalent qualification in biological science or biochemistry. Preference will be given to those with experience in running oxygen and TPMP+ electrodes for measuring mitochondrial function. A knowledge of mitochondrial bioenergetics, population genetics, and life history trait analysis will be highly regarded.
 
As this role includes writing scientific reports and papers, high level English language writing skills are essential.
 
This is a fixed term appointment for 5 years.
 
The salary range for Post Doctoral Fellow is A$65,503 - A$70,062 per annum (plus up to 17% employer superannuation plus leave loading).
