Lecturer in Criminology

The salary range for Lecturer is A$76K - A$90K per year, depending on qualifications and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation plus leave loading.
The School of Social Sciences and International Studies (SSIS) is located in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The School includes the disciplines of Politics and International Relations, Social Science and Policy, Criminology, Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work, creating a strong and dynamic research environment. In 2008 Social Sciences at UNSW was ranked 28th in the world by the Times Higher Education-QS review and the Faculty hosts several large research centres including the Social Policy Research Centre, the Centre for Refugee Research and the Australian Domestic Violence Clearinghouse. Criminology is recognised as a cross-Faculty research strength at University level, bringing together the expertise of world-class scholars from Law, Psychology and the Social Sciences. Criminology at UNSW is taught in conjunction with the Law Faculty.
We are looking for a committed and productive academic with expertise in criminology to contribute to our teaching and research programs. UNSW takes a broad definition of criminology, and welcomes applications from scholars who study crime and deviance, criminal justice, social regulation and the interaction between law and society. Undergraduate programs include a well established Bachelor of Social Science (Criminology) and a recently introduced Major in Criminology through the Bachelor of Arts degree. A cross-Faculty Masters in Criminal Justice and Criminology is expected to commence in 2011.
This is a 3-year full-time position with the option to be made continuing subject to satisfactory performance against agreed criteria.
