John Lions Chair in Computer Science

The School of Computer Science & Engineering is looking to appoint an outstanding individual in the newly created John Lions Chair in Computer Science. As one of the largest computing schools in Australia, it delivers an extensive research and development program in addition to a wide range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees. The John Lions Chair is a full time five-year renewable position with the option to vary the focus of the appointment each five years. The successful applicant will hold a substantive continuing appointment as Professor.
The successful applicant will have a strong track record in research, teaching and leadership in the field of Operating Systems. It is expected that the incumbent will lead the continuing fundraising effort aimed at endowing the John Lions Chair in perpetuity.
The base salary for Professor is currently A$126,972 per year. The John Lions Chair attracts a salary loading to be negotiated with the successful candidate. Additional benefits such as special funding for teaching or research development may be negotiated with the successful applicant. The Faculty encourages academic staff to undertake industrial consultancy and provides support for commercialisation of research. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for this position.
