Lecturer in Social Science and Criminology
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
School of Social Sciences and International Studies
REF. 6788NET

The salary range for Lecturer is A$76K - A$90K per year, depending on qualifications and experience, plus up to 17% employer superannuation plus leave loading.

The School of Social Sciences and International Studies (SSIS) is located in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The School started operating as a new school in February 2007 following a major restructuring of the Faculty. The School brings together the disciplines of Criminology, Development Studies, International Studies, Politics and International Relations, Social Policy, Social Science, Social Work, and Sociology and Anthropology, creating a strong and dynamic research environment. Our research scholars occupy leading positions in research institutes, academia, and both the public sector and private sector in this country and overseas. We are a lively group of colleagues committed to research, writing and teaching.

We are looking for an energetic academic with expertise in social science and criminology to contribute to its teaching and research programs. UNSW takes a broad definition of criminology, and welcomes applications from scholars who study crime and deviance, criminal justice, social regulation and the interaction between law and society. Social science expertise is sought to apply criminology and related issues to broad social policy areas and the position may also involve teaching other policy and social research subjects.

This is a 2-year full-time, fixed-term position available from January 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Applicants must systematically address the selection criteria in their application.  Women and people from equity groups are encouraged to apply.
