ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN PAINTING
College of Fine Arts
SCHOOL OF ART
REF. 6188
The College of Fine Arts (COFA) is seeking to appointment a leading artist/practitioner as an Associate Professor to its School of Art into the area of Painting.
COFA, a Faculty of the University of New South Wales, is one of Australia's premier art and design schools. It provides Art, Design, Media, Art History and Art Education programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It also undertakes extensive studio, theoretical and historical research into each of these fields.
The School of Art offers courses into each of COFA's coursework programs and has primary responsibility for the disciplines of Painting, Drawing, Printmaking and Sculpture/Performance/Installation at undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels.
The full time Associate Professor position assumes a broad knowledge and experience of the field of Painting and is pivotal to fulfilling the School's strategic aims. These include expanding the current Painting discipline's focus to give greater emphasis to cross-disciplinary, contemporary projects - with the view to the establishment of further research initiatives.
The Associate Professor will be required to undertake a significant coordination role across the School and it is expected that the appointee will undertake the role of Head of Painting.
The successful appointee will provide leadership, contribute to teaching, foster the University's research profile, and engage in related professional activities.
The successful applicant will have substantial experience in tertiary teaching and research supervision and show proven professional standing within a contemporary, international context. An interest in cross-disciplinary practice is highly regarded.
Enquiries may be directed to Ms Sylvia Ross, Head of the School of Art, on telephone (02) 9385 0667 or email: sylvia.ross@unsw.edu.au.
