Salary Level 6/7: A$62K - A$74K per year (plus up to 17% employer superannuation plus leave loading).
 
The School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering is seeking a Technical Officer to support the operation of the Design Laboratory.  The Technical Officer will provide leadership in the day-to-day operation of the Laboratory, which involves large hands-on undergraduate classes, research projects and large student projects such as the UNSW FSAE-A racing car team and assist in the successful design and manufacture of specialised equipment and the modification and improvement of existing test models, rigs and equipment.  The Technical Officer will also manage all safety issues in the laboratory area including the preparation of risk assessments and standard operating procedures and ensure the safe use of these facilities by students and staff.
 
Essential criteria: Tertiary certificates or degree in relevant fields or relevant experience; sound knowledge of engineering design; excellent communication skills and the demonstrated ability to advise students; experience in developing risk assessments and standard operating procedures for new equipment; knowledge of EEO/AA principles.
 
This is a full-time, continuing position.
