Child Care

"Salary sacrificing is available for child care services operated by Tigger’s Place, Kanga's House, the House at Pooh Corner and the Honeypot. You must enrol your child/children at the above Centres prior to seeking salary sacrificing of your Child Care costs. Child Care places are limited to the licensed capacity of the Centre.

Child care fees may be salary sacrificed from gross salary in equal fortnightly amounts and the cost allocated directly to the relevant child care centre out of the staff member's pre-tax salary. Staff who request to salary package their child care fees should forward a request for salary sacrificing form to Human Resources.

It is important to note that there is NO entitlement to child care benefits and child care rebate from the Family Assistance Office, at the Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services, where parents salary package their FULL child care fees.

Whether it is better to salary sacrifice child care fees, or receive child care benefits from the Family Assistance Office, will differ in each staff member's circumstance. Staff members are strongly recommended to seek independent financial advice in this regard. Further information can also be obtained from the Family Assistance Office and the Australian Taxation Office."
