Ally@UNSW Network

Ally@UNSW is a network of trained staff and students who are welcoming and sensitive to the issues faced by the LGBTIQ community. Allies can provide confidential support and referral advice to LGBTIQ staff and students at the University.

Learning and understanding terms relating to diverse genders, sexes and sexualities helps to foster respectful, inclusive and safe environments for LGBTIQ people, both at UNSW and in the wider community.

Resources include Pride in Diversity's publication, Let's Talk Gender, information about UNSW's Employee Assistance Program, and points of referral.

       
Support for transgender staff and managers

UNSW's Gender Affirmation Guidelines provide practical advice and support for staff who are affirming their gender identity.

Resources include a change checklist for trans staff, as well as information for managers and colleagues.

 
Pride in Diversity

UNSW is a member of Pride in Diversity, Australia's first and only national not-for-profit employer support program for all aspects of LGBTI inclusion in the workplace.

Pride in Diversity run the annual Australian Workplace Equality Index, the definitive national benchmark on LGBTI workplace inclusion.

Mardi Gras

UNSW proudly marched in Sydney's Mardi Gras Parade for the first time in 2017, with LGBTIQ staff, students and Allies from across the University taking part.

Created in 2016, UNSW's Rainbow Basser Steps make a bold statement for LGBTIQ diversity and inclusion.
