At UNSW we want to build a “culture” that is excellent, innovative and collaborative amongst other things. But what do we really mean when we say this?
Organisational culture is defined by how people inside the organization interact with each other. How we behave shapes our organisational culture and the unwritten ground rules of “how we do things around here”.
With input from over 1,400 staff and leaders, we’ve decided at UNSW we want to recognise and acknowledge people who demonstrate excellence, drive innovation, build collaboration, embrace diversity and display respect. The behaviours give us a structured way to recognise people who’ve already made a positive contribution or for achievements in changing and improving culture. A number of programs and initiatives related to the behaviours will be developed in collaboration with staff over the next year.
