In 2018, UNSW Capability & Development will continue to facilitate the highly regarded Academic Women in Leadership (AWIL) and the Professional Women in Leadership (PWIL) programs.  AWIL and PWIL programs align with UNSW’s 2025 Strategy by helping to identify, grow and retain talented women that can help lead the University with confidence and competence. Besides talent development, these programs also also aim to promote diversity in UNSW leadership.

Eligibility Requirements

Please read the requirements below and ensure you are able to meet the program's requirements before submitting your application:

Common Criteria

  • Attendance in all scheduled sessions
  • Aspirations for professional growth within UNSW, with a desire to become a Department Head, Faculty Executive Director or other senior leadership role in the future

PWIL specific criteria

AWIL specific criteria

  • Professional Women Level 7-9
  • Employed by the University for at least two years as at March 2018 as a full time, part time (.5 or more), continuing and / or fixed term contract
  • Some formal management training
  • At least two years people management experience, inside or outside UNSW.
  • Level B or within first 3 years of promotion to Level C 
  • Minimum 2 years employment at UNSW (as at March 2018) 
  • Possess a PhD, Doctorate or significant equivalent experience in relevant area

  • If on tenure track or fixed term contract, contract extends to at least 30 December 2018.
