Parents, Carers & Flexible Work

UNSW is committed to supporting employee work-life balance where possible, by providing access to flexible work and leave arrangements.
There are many stages in life where staff might be interested in negotiating flexible work arrangements. Arrangements such as converting from full-time to part-time for a defined period, or flexible hours and work locations, may assist in this process. Most frequently, these situations occur when parents are returning from parental leave or have young children at school. However, there are many other circumstances where flexible work arrangements may be beneficial too. These include, transition to retirement, adoption of volunteer work, community or sporting activities, the onset of or recovery from an illness, study engagements or caring for a family member.
This section covers six major topics relating to flexible work and leave; use the left hand nagivation or the drop down top navigation menu to access these pages.
